Rekindling Joy and Passion: A Journey Back to Self
Why is My Sense of Enjoyment Gone?
Everyday feels the exact same; nothing has changed. Many of the hobbies once cherished now feel like chores. Even when they start to feel exciting, it's only momentarily.
For years, after going through abuse and experiencing narcissism, I felt as if I had lost the spark in life. I had no clue what my favorite color, dish, or hobby was; it's as if everything I once enjoyed felt meaningless to me.
The Neglect of Self
One day, I realized why. I had become disconnected from my true self. Over time, I had ignored my feelings, needs, and desires, sacrificing my time to fulfill my "duty" obediently. In the process, I lost my inner self. I could no longer hear, feel, or connect with my inner self.
Reconnecting with Myself
I missed my old self, the one who was fearless, joyful, and passionate. To get back to myself, I began listening to what I actually wanted to do and be. I started to act on my needs, spending just 5 minutes at a time to fulfill them. Gradually, I spent more and more time on these activities, which helped me realize who I really am and what I value in life.
Now, I know that my favorite color is yellow, my favorite food is a hot brownie with vanilla ice cream, and my hobby is small crafts.
Encouragement and Hope
Life can be tough, but you can change, as I have seen in myself and others. When you feel disinterested in your daily life, try seeking joy in new avenues. Maybe this involves changing your routine, spending time with friends, or simply going out and trying to smile and enjoy the moment.
Be patient with yourself. Don't rush the process of rekindling your joy and passion. Life is precious, and it's important to live it fully while you can. Just be strong, put on some music, and read a good book. You'll find your way back to happiness, and I hope that you find it for today.
Conclusion
Luckily, we each have the power to change and find joy. Let's support each other in our journeys of self-discovery and rekindling passion.
