Percy Jackson or Harry Potter: Choosing My Fandom
It's no secret that I'm a fan of both Rick Riordan and J.K. Rowling as authors. While the books and movies in their respective universes hold a special place in my heart, my preference for one over the other is clear. Although I engage actively in both fandoms, my favorite ultimately is Percy Jackson. In this article, I will explore my reasons for this preference and delve into why Percy Jackson resonates more deeply with me.
My Background in Both Fandoms
People often ask me which fandom I belong to more, Percy Jackson or Harry Potter. It's not a question that I feel I have to answer definitively because I love both. However, when it comes to choosing a favorite, my heart belongs to Percy Jackson. I adore Harry Potter as well, but Rick Riordan’s characters hold a special place in my heart, especially the Percy Jackson series.
Since I was young, I have encountered many wonderful friends through both fandoms. Socializing and discussing the adventures and challenges that Percy Jackson and his friends face have been some of the best experiences I've had. These are friends that I’ve met through reading the books and watching the movies. Similarly to Harry Potter, I grew up reading both Rick Riordan’s and J.K. Rowling’s works, which have become an integral part of my life.
My Preference for Percy Jackson
While I love Harry Potter, the Percy Jackson series speak to me on a deeper level. When I was in third grade, I was a fan of both fandoms, but Harry Potter was more appealing to me. However, as the years have passed, my affection for Harry Potter has diminished. Now, I find the books less engaging, mainly because I have seen some movies so many times that they no longer hold the magic they once did. This doesn't mean I no longer appreciate the Wizarding World; it just shows that my preferences have evolved over time.
One of the primary reasons I prefer Percy Jackson is the lighter, sunnier tone of the series. The Percy Jackson universe is more diverse and fun, taking a bright and entertaining approach to classic age-old myths. This contrasts with the darker and more serious tone of Harry Potter. In my opinion, Percy Jackson’s world is a more enjoyable place to explore and engage with. The series features a range of thrilling adventures, engaging characters, and a high level of fun that has kept me hooked for years.
Other Fandoms and Preferences
While Percy Jackson is my favorite, I must mention that I have other fandoms and preferences as well. For instance, I enjoy other light-hearted novels and series like The Shadowhunters. However, unlike Harry Potter, which has numerous book adaptations, Percy Jackson and The Shadowhunters are devoid of movie adaptations. This limitation doesn’t detract from my love for these series; rather, it enhances the imagination and appreciation for the written word.
Respect for All Fandoms
It's important to note that I respect all fans of both Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. I love the universe of Harry Potter as well, and I acknowledge the significant impact it has had on my life. I hold no grudge against J.K. Rowling; on the contrary, I have immense respect for her work and the global community that has grown around it. Similarly, the Percy Jackson fandom has introduced me to many great friends and exciting experiences. I value the connections and memories I have made through both fandoms.
Furthermore, I believe that the Rowling and Riordan fandoms should coexist harmoniously. While I prefer Percy Jackson, I encourage others to enjoy Harry Potter in their own way, as long as they respect my preference. It is crucial to maintain a level of mutual respect and understanding within the broader community of fans. After all, both fandoms offer unique and enriching experiences.
