My Unforgettable Reading Journeys: From Verity to Shogun

Have you ever read a book that kept you up all night, or finished a book in record time? My experience with Verity by Colleen Hoover has been one of the most exciting reading adventures I've had in a long time. I received this book as a birthday gift last month, and it turned out to be an unexpected treasure.

The Thrilling Adventure of Verity

The plot of Verity is set in a complex psychological thriller. Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer, takes on the task of completing the remaining books in a series for Jeremy Crawford, the husband of a bestselling author. Jeremy's wife, who is unable to finish the series, has hired Lowen to finish the job. What follows is a harrowing journey that kept me glued to the pages.

To be honest, I had no prior clue about the plot of this book. I merely started reading and was utterly surprised to finish it in just 3 days! While some readers might breeze through books in one sitting, this was the shortest time I've ever spent reading a book. It was not only thrilling but also a refreshing change from my usual reading habits.

From Stranger to Bookaholic: My Reading Journey

My road to becoming a voracious reader began when a friend recommended the book Shogun by James Clavell. From then on, I was hooked. This epic novel not only became my favorite but also set the stage for my love for reading. I have found myself staying up all night just to finish a book or reading until the wee hours of the morning, completely engrossed.

Interestingly, not every book I read is thrilling or keeps me up at night. In fact, it's more of a testament to my reading habits. If I start a book, short of gas or no, I simply cannot put it down until I reach the last page. Countless times, I would start a novel around 5 PM and not wake until 3 AM because I couldn't resist reading that last chapter. I have read entire books in one sitting, in cabs, or during my work breaks, making sure I get the last few pages in.

Shattering My Reading Routine

The only time I have broken from this relentless reading habit was when I had to work before finishing a book. Then, I would divide my reading into two parts: during my commute to work and back home. This doesn't quite fit the strict definition of shortest possible time, but it certainly keeps the pace going.

As a bookaholic, I have restricted my fiction reading in recent years to make room for other responsibilities. Despite this, every book I read leaves an indelible mark on me, shaping my thoughts and enriching my life. My reading journey has been nothing short of thrilling, and I am grateful for every moment spent in the company of books.
