Finding Compassion in the Absence of It
How Do You Find Compassion for People Who Have No Compassion?
A lack of compassion is among the things that can most deprive them of joy in their lives. The only thing that rivals it is a lack of gratitude. If we do not feel compassion for them, what is our alternative? Feeling pity for them seems like a lesser evil, but can we really cultivate empathy in situations where it is seemingly absent?
A Call to Universal Love
I have a strong feeling that God loves all people, and for this reason, I am also obliged to show love to all other people. It is important to be able to love your enemy. However, I don’t have any time for people who represent a threat to me or my close ones. I avoid such people.
Through Living Experiences
I know that my spirit has already had many incarnations in the flesh. I have experienced some of these incarnations during hypnosis regression and others in spontaneous flashbacks. I know that I have been where people with no compassion are now, and consequently, it isn’t difficult to have compassion with them. It’s like being a parent who loves a child in spite of the child being naughty.
A Personal Story
In my last incarnation, I was born in Austria and when Adolf Hitler came to Vienna in the “Anschluss,” I was there cheering for him—due to the way I was brought up—but it isn’t an excuse. I became a soldier, and I was sent to fight Russia, where I died outside Stalingrad in the cold winter, knowing that everything I had believed in was a delusion. Adolf Hitler wasn’t a war hero and he wasn’t even a good politician or leader. I was only 26 years old, but that life was valuable because it taught me an important lesson.
Empathy through Synthesis
Empathy is a skill that can be developed, even in situations where it seems most unlikely. By drawing on personal experiences, we can better understand and connect with others, regardless of their actions or beliefs. This story serves as a testament to the power of resilience and growth, transcending past errors to find understanding and compassion in the present.
Through these experiences, I learned that compassion is not an emotion that we simply have or don’t have; it’s a choice we make every day. It is about extending a hand to those who may seem unworthy of it at first glance. It is a reminder that we are all human, capable of both making mistakes and serving as a source of love and support for one another.
The Role of Empathy
Empathy plays a crucial role in our ability to connect with others. It allows us to see the world from another person's perspective, which can foster understanding and kindness. Even if we cannot change someone's actions, we can change the way we react to them. By choosing to see the humanity in others, we can break down barriers and build bridges of compassion.
Conclusion
Ultimately, the challenge of finding compassion for those who have none is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. It reminds us that by extending our love and understanding, we can bridge divides and create a more compassionate world. Even if others do not reciprocate, our actions can still make a difference.
