Exploring the World of Darkness Universe: Its Power and Scope
Exploring the Riches of the World of Darkness Universe
The World of Darkness universe is an expansive and multifaceted cosmology that rivals the realms of SCP, DC, Marvel, and Lovecraft. This vast universe, known as the Tapestry, contains an infinite and finite realm called the Tellurian, where our reality lies. Understanding the power and scope of these concepts requires delving into its underlying principles and structures.
The Infinitely Finite World of the Tapestry
In the World of Darkness, the Tapestry is the primary physical universe that encompasses all that has been, is, and can be imagined. This universe is known to be infinite but finite for the Tellurian. The Tellurian is a concept similar to the Tapestry, but much more superior. It contains elements that are completely impossible by conventional standards.
The tapestry's definition includes concepts that are beyond human comprehension. Its structure, known as the weaver's pattern, extends beyond the Tellurian and into realms that surpass even the known universe. The Weaver is the fundamental force of order in the universe, mediating triat forces like Wyld and Wyrm. All scientific, philosophical, and mathematical concepts are simply creations of the Weaver, and extensions of it. The Weaver is the founder of definitions, and without it, everything would lose its meaning.
The Triat and the Fortress of the Weaver
Within the triat framework, the Weaver stands supreme, defining the whole of creation through mere existence. The concept of Triat is indescribable, and labels fall short of capturing its immense power. The Triat exists beyond the parameters of human intelligence and overcome concepts like dimensionality. The Weaver, by its existence, gradually carves the totality of creation.
The Void: The Beginning and the End
The Void is the principle and end of creation. It existed before the creation but will eventually consume the universe, turning it into a cycle of dynamism. The Void itself does not exist; it is the antithesis of existence, collapsing all distinctions into nothingness. It is a state beyond conception, truly the endpoint of the journey.
Breaking Down the Cosmology of World of Darkness
The basic concept of the World of Darkness cosmology is that everything within the physical world has a metaphysical version, serving as a bridge to the astral plane. The three realms in the astral plane are the Low, Medium, and High Umbra, which correspond to the subterranean, surface, and superior atmospheres of their counterparts in the material world.
The Vulpata: Cosmic University
The Vulpata, or the residence of concepts in their semifield state, is a vast and complex landscape. Here, the spirit of volumes, alternative histories, and realities can be found. The Vulpata is the residence of those things that project shadows, representing the abstract and the abstractly real. The Quinxession, a manifestation of concepts, informs patterns and acts as a Platonic archetype.
The Tapestry and the Duality of Realities
Within the Vulpata, the Tapestry, an infinite construct, is a cornerstone. It is composed of representations like the colors of the rainbow, the visible spectrum, chakras, and the Tree of Life, indicating that the Vulpata and the physical world are themselves part of the conceptual hierarchy. The Vulpata represents thought becoming real, as in Plato's cave, where thought transforms into a reality that is as real as possible in the realm of abstraction.
The Nine Spheres and The Ascension
Magical practice in the World of Darkness is divided into Nine Spheres, each representing a fundamental aspect of reality. Together, they govern the fundamental patterns from which all things emerge, forming an infinite cycle that binds all existence. The Tenth Sphere, a unifying force, is theorized to represent the most fundamental level of reality from which all emerges. Mastery over this sphere opens the door to The Ascension, the ultimate goal for all magical practitioners who seek harmony with the ultimate reality.
The Necronomicon and Beyond: The Final Frontier
Nefandios, the most extreme practitioners, identify the absolute reality with the Void itself, an infinitive nothingness that makes all constructs in reality seem illusory. This understanding leads them to reject the constructs of reality as mere reflections of an infinite void, suggesting that even this understanding is incomplete and continues to evolve.
