Exploring My Reading Habit: A Journey Through Non-Fiction, Fiction, and Everything in Between

Reading has always been a significant part of my life, a true escape from the mundane into the realms of undiscovered knowledge and experiences. Currently, I am engrossed in After Sappho by Selby Wynn Schwartz, and I find myself thoroughly enjoying its unique writing style. Currently, I have a diverse reading list, including both fictitious narratives and informative non-fiction.

Variety in My Reading List

My TBR pile is more like a mountain, growing taller each day! Despite not having a specific genre, I find myself gravitating towards various types of books, ranging from classic literature to modern day bestsellers. If I were to categorize my reading, self-help books often sit atop the list. Titles such as Atomic Habits, Think Like a Monk, The Courage to Be Disliked offer insightful guidance and a lens from which to view life's challenges. They are invaluable in shaping my personal growth journey.

Recently, I have been diving into the captivating series Twelve Kings in Sharakhai by Bradley P. Beaulieu. It's a genre that I often find myself luxuriating in, and these authors - Guy Gavriel Kay, Jack Vance, C.J. Cherryh, and George R.R. Martin - are true muses, their immersive narratives and richly detailed worlds easily capturing my imagination.

Reading From a Different Perspective

Most interestingly, I also have an itch to explore lesser-known books, those often picked up at garage sales or tucked away in forgotten corners of libraries. One such find is Girl in Blue, a hidden gem, a treasure unearthed from a dusty shelf at a local garage sale. These books, though perhaps not as renowned, are often filled with unique stories that reflect the human spirit in ways that more mainstream works may not. They serve as a reminder of the vast and undiscovered cultural wealth in every corner of the world.

When Amusement Takes Over

But let's not forget the lighter side of reading. Recently, I have been delving into a mix of history and bios, such as The Pueblo Revolt by David Roberts and In The Waves Re: Confederate sub Hunley by Rachel Lance. These books provide enlightening historical insights and gripping narratives that keep me hooked, often reflecting on past eras and enlightening me with fresh perspectives.

Ultimately, my reading habits span everything from fictitious narratives to enriching non-fiction. A continuous journey of personal exploration, I often let my mood dictate my reading choices. Being able to access a wide range of titles via my Kindle and local library has only expanded my horizons, presenting a myriad of genres and topics to immerse in. Whether it's ancient religions, mythologies, or light-hearted tales, the world of reading is as diverse as it is endlessly fascinating. It's a hobby that recharges my soul and pushes me towards new discoveries, turning each page into a step towards self-improvement and understanding.
