Diving into the Multitude of Book Genres: A Personal Exploration

My love for reading spans an astonishing array of genres, reflecting my insatiable curiosity and diverse intellectual interests. From the wonders of science fiction to the complexities of philosophy, each genre contributes to my understanding of the world in its unique way. Here's a detailed exploration of my reading habits and interests.

Genres I Read: A Personal List

Science Fiction Popular Fiction Biographies Histories of Science Philosophy of Science Epistemology Moral Philosophy Christian Theology Biblical Studies Christian Mission Physics Mathematics Science and Religion Technology Computer Science History Mythology Comic Novels Poetry

My Reading Preferences and Habits

Quite a few are the genres I immerse myself in, but I find that I mostly stick to a select few. My reading preferences include nonfiction sociology, genomics, history, military history, biography, quantum physics, and mathematics. These genres, along with literary fiction, classic literature, and poetry, cover a span of at least three distinct categories. Even among nonfiction, I gravitate towards books that offer insights into different aspects of society and history, enriching my understanding and knowledge.

Biographies of British royalty, historic and contemporary Americans, and authors like Anne Perry, have a particular appeal to me. I read these to gain a deeper understanding of certain periods and figures. My collection of art books and dictionaries also serves as a valuable reference for my writing and research. Additionally, I enjoy the mystery series by Anne Perry, particularly the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt novels, as well as books on European royalty, including the Habsburgs, Queen Victoria, the Romanovs, and others.

My Favourite and Least Favourite Genres

Among all the genres, my least favourite is romance, but I do not shy away from reading books with romantic elements when they catch my interest. In contrast, my favourite genres include fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Despite my affinity for factual and literary works, I occasionally veer off into comedic novels or philosophical musings, which provide a mix of entertainment and intellectual stimulation.

While my reading habits may not be extensive, I remain a dedicated reader, particularly when the content is specifically related to my field of expertise. For instance, my focus often lies on books that are numismatically related or delve into topics such as Oriental ceramics and ethnic tribal jewellery. These areas require a deep dive of research and analysis, making them a natural fit for my reading interests.
