Cutoff Scores for Air Force X Y Group Exams in 2019: Analysis and Predictions

The cutoff scores for the Air Force X and Y Group exams can vary each year based on several factors, including the number of candidates, the difficulty of the exam, and overall performance.

For the 2019 recruitment cycle, the cutoff scores were as follows:

X Group

Typically, the cutoff was around 40-50 marks, but it can vary depending on the specific exam and the year.

Y Group

The cutoff was usually lower than that of the X Group, often in the range of 30-40 marks.

For the most accurate and detailed information, it's best to refer to official announcements from the Indian Air Force or the relevant examination authorities.

Depending on the nature of the paper, the cutoff marks can fluctuate. For instance, last year's merit for the X Group was 37. For the 2020 intake, the cutoff marks can be influenced by the difficulty level of the paper. If the paper is easy, the merit will be lower; if hard, the merit will be higher.

Predictions for 2023

Considering the previous year's trend, here are some predictions:

X Group

The cutoff is not likely to exceed 30 marks. Based on the sectional performance, the overall cutoff might be:

English: 10 marks Physics: 9 marks Maths: 9 marks Overall: 30 marks

Note that this is a prediction, and the actual numbers may differ.

Y Group

The cutoff for the Y Group is expected to be between 33-34 marks. There will also be individual subject cutoffs, which are typically aligned with the previous intake.

Physical Fitness Requirements

If you score more than 35 marks in X Group and 37 marks in Y Group, prepare for the physical fitness tests. Historically, around 35 individuals fail to complete the race within the specified time. Additionally, candidates should focus on physical exercises such as pushups, situps, and squats.

From my personal experience, in batch 02/2019, 70 candidates couldn't complete the race, and 13 were eliminated during pushups and situps. After AT 1 and AT 2, around 120-130 candidates remained out of a batch of 300. In my case, I scored 37.25 in X Group but failed in Y Group by 2 marks, currently waiting for the Physical Selection List (PSL) and preparing for NDA.

As always, it's crucial to stay updated with official announcements and guidelines from the Indian Air Force to ensure accurate and relevant information.
