Current Academic Pursuits for the Sake of Curiosity and Growth
Regardless of the Discipline: My Multifaceted Academic Pursuits for Personal Growth
In today's world, the boundaries between traditional academic disciplines are often blurred, allowing us to explore the fascinating intersections of different areas of study. As an enthusiast who delves into a wide array of subjects, my goal is to piece together a comprehensive understanding of the world through a combination of literature, philosophy, theology, science, psychology, anthropology, and history. This pursuit is not just for the sake of collecting knowledge but to foster a deeper appreciation for the complexity of our world.
Literary Exploration
Classics: Gorky, Dostoevsky, Eliot, Tolstoy, Goethe, Kafka, Yates, Manley Hopkins, Milton, Chaucer, Shakespeare, and African American literature. Fables and Myths: Arthurian legends, and the Book of the Courtly Love. These readings enrich my understanding of human nature, culture, and society, providing a rich tapestry of stories that continue to resonate across centuries.
Philosophical Inquiry
Classical Thinkers: Hegel, Hume, Kant, Camus, Sartre, etc. Religious Texts: The Christian Bible, excerpts from the Koran, the Mahabharata, and the Book of Mormon.Through these explorations, I am inspired to question, think critically, and seek deeper meaning in life and human existence.
Scientific Endeavors
Physics: Natural philosophy, classical mechanics, quantum mechanics. Biology: Genetics, neuroscience, neurology, astronomy, marine biology. In combining these subjects, I aim to understand the physical world and its profound implications on human life.
Psychological Insights
Theorists: Jung, Dabrowski, Klein, Lacan, Maslow, Pavlov, Skinner, etc.Understanding the complexities of the human mind drives my exploration of behavior, emotions, and cognitive processes.
Cultural and Historical Studies
Ancient Civilizations: Native American culture, Sub-Saharan African culture, indigenous peoples (Ainu, Aboriginal Australians). Historical Events: Roman Republic and Empire, Byzantine, Judaic, Egyptian, Greek, English, Norse, Indian wars, War of 1812, WW1, WW2, Civil Rights Era, Reconstruction. My interest in these areas deepens my appreciation of the evolution of human societies and cultures.
Mathematical Proficiency
Fundamental Concepts: Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, logic.Together, these subjects form the foundation of my interdisciplinary studies and provide the analytical tools I need for my endeavors.
Current Academic Projects
Currently, I am focusing on Tensor Calculus and its relationship to dSitter spaces and fractals, as well as Rust programming. Rust is particularly interesting as I am re-implementing my Gravity Set fractals in this programming language, which will be my fourth attempt. This interdisciplinary project aligns with my goal to bridge the gap between mathematical theories and practical applications.
Personal Writing and Communication Skills
Writing: My passion for writing is twofold—practicing to become a better writer and blogging to share my insights. I have sought feedback from other writers and joined a writers circle. Public Relations (PR): Besides enhancing my writing skills, I am also learning to be a more effective PR person. This involves attending conferences, reading books and articles, and participating in Facebook groups to gain practical experience. These activities not only contribute to my professional development but also fulfill my desire to share knowledge and engage with others.
