An Unforgettable Journey: A Sealed Berth and an Unforgettable Retaliation

About me, I mostly travel in sleeper class due to its numerous advantages. The natural air, facilities like fast and varied food, and the friendly atmosphere are major perks. However, these benefits vary with the duration of the journey. For short journeys, around 30 hours, you get a weekend feel; but for long journeys, it's a mixed bag of advantages and inconveniences with an influx of crowded conditions, especially if you have waiting ticket holders alongside.

Traveling in Sleeper Coach

Comfort Fresh Air: Natural air proves refreshing compared to the stuffy conditions in the non-sleeper class. Food and Entertainment: A variety of fast food choices are readily available, making the journey more enjoyable. Interactions: A plethora of travelers offer much-needed company and stories. In contrast, first class remains quiet, as most people are engrossed in their journeys. Facilities: Not always ideal due to maintenance and overcrowding issues. Waste and hygiene concerns can be a downside.

A Memorable Experience

One such experience stands out from my many journeys. Back in time, on a particularly crowded overnight train, a confrontation took place between a lady and a man over a lower berth.

The Confrontation

It was a 24-hour journey, and the train was packed. The lady, in her early thirties, was initially sitting on the window side of the lower berth. A man in his late twenties approached her, claiming the same berth was designated for him. She politely asked him to sit in the aisle. He, however, refused adamantly and insisted she vacate her seat. Initially, they argued back and forth. Eventually, the lady, seemingly aware of her rights, acquiesced and moved to her middle berth.

The Aftermath

In the evening, everyone had their dinner and went to sleep in their allotted spots, including the man who secured the lower berth after the lady vacated. The next morning, the man faced a significant problem. The lady's berth was still open, and he couldn't sit properly. He asked the lady to fold her berth to make space for him. She, however, rejected his request, explaining that she had the legal rights to keep her berth open.

This resulted in a hilarious and tense situation. The man was forced to sit in an uncomfortable position all day, while the woman, embodying a sense of retribution, enjoyed the scene. She continued to keep her berth open for the remainder of the journey, despite the rules suggesting it could be opened from 9 PM to 6 AM.

This unforgettable train journey taught me a lesson about assertiveness and the power of standing up for one's rights.
